NAHB Provides Grant to Support Maui Recovery Efforts

This month, NAHB provided a grant of $50,000 to the Hawaii Building Industry Foundation’s Maui Recovery + Rebuild Fund in support of their efforts and projects in assisting impacted residents and members on Maui in recovery and rebuilding homes following the devastating wildfire in August.

“NAHB is committed to supporting recovery efforts in Maui,” said NAHB Chairman Alicia Huey. “As valued members of our Federation, we will continue to give our time, support and expertise to help our members in Maui and the community rebuild.”

The Hawaii Building Industry Foundation, a Hawaii-based 501c (3) non-profit organization, established the Maui Recovery + Rebuild Fund to aid in the targeted recovery and residential rebuild efforts for residents and communities impacted by the fire.

Huey met with the BIA of Hawaii Board of Directors this month. She participated in meetings with BIA and Foundation members to help identify opportunities for the Federation to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts.

The Maui wildfire is the deadliest in U.S. history, claiming more than 100 lives, devastating the town of Lahaina and causing an estimated $6 billion in damages. The fire claimed more than 2,000 structures and left an estimated 7,000 Maui residents without homes.
