NAHB’s Most Engaging Shop Talk Sessions of 2025

NAHB’s Shop Talks are informal discussions led by industry professionals that cover a range of topics including financial management, business trends, mentorship, marketing and more to keep members informed on the latest in home building.

In 2025, NAHB hosted 50 shop talks, inviting a wide range of leaders and newcomers in the same spaces to learn, strategize and network.

Below are the five most-attended sessions of the year.

Led by Terri Everhart, sales representative at HomeSite Services Inc. and 2022 NAHB Professional Women in Building National Chair, learn how women can help address the looming labor shortage in the residential construction industry as Baby Boomers retire.

This wide-ranging discussion reviews ways to attract the younger generations to join the industry, which organizations and trade schools NAHB members can get involved with, the do’s and don’t’s of getting started in the aging-in-place space and more.

Led by Everhart, learn from peer industry members about educational pathways, breaking gender stereotypes and creating an inclusive environment.

Participants give their input on numerous topics such as the biggest challenges preventing more women from entering residential construction, the most successful pipelines for women to enter the industry, and what inspired them to join the construction industry in the first place.

Led by Tiffany George, CEO of Builder Services and Design Centers for Christian Brothers Interiors in San Diego, learn how to grab the attention of potential clients and put an end to their endless scrolling with engaging, high-impact social media content.

The group discusses their biggest challenges when creating social media content for their businesses, the best advice they have in creating impactful social posts, and how they use social media to make their lives easier.

Learn practical tips and strategies to make networking easier, more comfortable and more productive in a discussion moderated by Everhart.

This is an engaging discussion for those looking to improve their event networking strategies and speak to industry professionals who work in fields different from theirs. This conversation also includes key advice for self-proclaimed introverts and those who struggle speaking in crowds.

Moderated by Beth Haynes, a trustee of the 55+ Housing Council, discover which home features were predicted to be the most popular in the 55+ housing sector including interior finishes and design, community lifestyle and architectural stylings.

The group dives into the 55+ markets’ appreciation of quality homes, easy care and maintenance, and willingness to spend on kitchens, storage, home offices, gathering spaces and more.
