Local Trade Education Scholarship Opportunity-Presented by Professional Women in Building of SW Idaho & Building Contractors Association of SW Idaho
We are excited to introduce our inaugural Trade Education Scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year. The Building Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho’s Professional Women in Building (BCASWI PWB) has established scholarship program to support those looking to enter the building industry. Each year, BCASWI PWB will award scholarships to students pursuing a career in a construction related field. Preference for scholarships will be given by discretion of a panel to students pursuing construction-related education and students affiliated West Ada Career and Technical Education Program. The scholarship may be used to fund trade education. Monies will be paid directly to the school or training program of choice of the winners to help defray the cost of tuition. Recipients may be awarded up to $3,000 per academic year. Applicant must be at least Grade 12 or equivalent to apply.
BCASWI PWB is proud to support construction and construction trade education and certification as a positive career path and option for graduating students. This is an underserved career opportunity, and we want to help promote this option for traditional and non-traditional students alike.
The Application is due received or postmarked by March 31, 2023 and all scholarships will be awarded by the end of April and will be recognized at the BCASWI Professional Women in Building Parade of Homes® Pet House Edition. Those not receiving a scholarship will be notified by email.
Mia Englund Memorial Scholarship
The Mia Englund Memorial Scholarship is given to one recipient of the Building Contractors Association and the Professional Women in Building Council’s Special Trade Scholarship in the amount of $2,911. This amount is significant because Mia’s Birthday was 2-9-11 and the verse that guided her through her life and struggles with congenital heart defects was Jeremiah 29:11.
Mia had a passion for building homes and a legacy of monumental volunteering, giving and fundraising for an angel of 11 years old. In her memory, we hope this scholarship acts as a catalyst to make an impact in the industry, and as a result the community we all serve.
